Understanding Title VI" is a comprehensive course designed to educate participants about Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, its application in educational settings, and the obligations of both institutions and individuals. This course examines the legal framework that prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance.
Through real-world scenarios and personal narratives, participants will learn to identify various forms of discrimination, understand the differences between intentional discrimination and disparate impact, analyze examples of discrimination in academic environments, and develop pro-social strategies for perspective-taking and bystander intervention.
